Region-of-interest centers on a grid x grid layout, as (M, 2) row/col.

Regions are inset far enough that a full roi_size box fits, plus margin (a fraction of each side) to stay off the detector edge, where the pattern is weakest and the gnomonic lever arm is most sensitive to pattern-center error.
